'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon' Premiere Marks 'Graduation Day'

0
Mark your calendars, boys and girls: June 28, 2011, is officially "Transformers" Day in New York City, as announced at Tuesday night's red-carpet premiere of "Dark of the Moon," the third (and potentially final) installment in Michael Bay's robot-smashing, record-obliterating blockbuster trilogy.
On one hand, it was an event packed with more excitement and enthusiasm than a downtown Chicago brawl between Optimus Prime and his Decepticon rivals. On the other, it was bittersweet.

"It feels like graduation day, you know?" Shia LaBeouf told MTV News about his feelings on the night of the premiere. "I never went to college. I spent all of my college years on the set. This is my graduation. I wish I could have worn one of those funny hats, dude."
But even LaBeouf was able to make light of the situation. Asked what he'd wear underneath his graduation gown, he laughed: "Nothing. A unitard. A leopard unitard and a graduation hat."

Justin Bieber Talks Next Album, Hopes It ‘Will Be Huge’ (Video)

0
It’s been a while since Justin Bieber released any new songs. And it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer for a new album.
However, we do have good news…
Justin Bieber is currently working on his next album!
**Cue Belieber insanity**
The singer recently spoke to MTV News and revealed that he’s currently in the planning stages.
“I want to work a lot with myself. And [I want to] write a lot myself,” he said. “I will be working with a lot of other producers and stuff like that, but I’m just writing a lot, writing on tour.”
The Somebody to Love singer is currently spending a lot of his free time writing and recording new songs. However, he doesn’t have a date in mind as to when his album will need to be completed by.
“[I'm] writing about how I feel and producing,” he added. “I’ve been producing on my laptop and on my computer. I’ve been really into it and, hopefully, this next album will be huge.”
That sounds great. So can we expect the same Bieber sound in the new album?
“I’ve done a lot on my acoustic guitar, so it’s gonna have that vibe,” he said. “I’m not gonna really limit myself. I think music is music, and genre – I mean, I know there’s country music, there’s rock music, but my music is different. My voice is not meant for any style. I just want to make music.”
Along with his music-making, he’s also making a lot of money.
Forbes ranked him number 2 on the list of Best-Paid Celebrities under 30 after he made $53 million in a 12-month period.
Not bad for a boy who grew up in a small apartment in Canada with his mother!
Check out his MTV interview below:

Box office update: 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' nets $13.5 mil from Tuesday late-night shows

0
Transformers: Dark of the Moon collected $13.5 million from late-night showings on Tuesday, according to Paramount. Of that amount, $5.5 million came from 9 p.m. “sneak previews” at about 2,700 3-D locations, while the remaining $8 million came from midnight showings on both 3-D and 2-D screens.
That places Michael Bay’s $195 million alien-robot threequel in between its two predecessors. Dark of the Moon outgrossed 2007′s original Transformers, which earned $8.8 million from its Monday night preview screenings and midnight shows. But Dark of the Moon fell quite a bit short of 2009′s Revenge of the Fallen, which consumed a colossal $16.6 million from midnight showings alone.

One of the many intriguing stories to emerge from the production and release of "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" is the casting of new leading lady and first-time actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. In addition to making headlines for replacing Megan Fox as the new "Transformers" "It" girl, the fact that Whiteley comes to Hollywood from the equally glamorous world of modeling has only added to her appeal.

The Victoria's Secret model's acting abilities have already been touted and praised by her co-stars, Shia LaBeouf and Tyrese Gibson, but when MTV News caught up with the newbie, we asked her about the intensity of the audition process.

Eminem Pulls The Trigger In His “Space Bound” Video

0
Though Eminem has the #1 album in the country as part of duo Bad Meets Evil, the MC is still rolling out videos from his last solo effort, the chart-topping, Grammy-winning Recovery. His long-delayed “Space Bound” vid could be Part 2 of the tumultuous, violent relationship seen in his “Love The Way You Lie” clip, except this time Eminem fills in the lead role — twice over. The rapper plays two versions of himself, and neither of their stories turn out well. Watch the unsettling video below.
Joseph Kahn, who was originally supposed to helm Lady Gaga’s “The Edge Of Glory” video until a last-minute, drama-filled switch, directed the “Space Bound” video, while porn star Sasha Grey plays his love interest.

Justin Bieber’s Run-In With Undercover Cop At Fragrance Launch

0
Justin Bieber got a bit of a scare today when an undercover cop was mistaken for a crazed fan during the singer’s fragrance launch in NYC.
The 17-year-old arrived at the store in Manhattan’s Herald Square at around 3:30pm to promote his new fragrance, Someday. Things went pear shaped when The Biebs temporarily left the store to greet fans who were not invited inside.
According to witnesses, the crowd went wild when Bieber stepped outside. An undercover cop then stepped in, attempting to protect the singer.
No realising he was a cop, Biebs got defensive, thinking he was a nutty fan. That’s when his security team stepped in and pulled him away.
Photo of the scuffle here.
Though witnesses say he appeared to be very “shaken up”, The Biebs wasn’t injured.
The cop later identified himself, and the security guard was cited with disorderly conduct.
Bieber later returned into the store for the launch.

Weekend Box Office: Green Lantern Opens Soft, Will Lose Money

0
The trick with any studio launch of a $200-million would-be franchise--especially one freighted by $100 million in marketing--is to open well enough to make your money back, and then some. At an estimated $52.7 million, Green Lantern opened soft: Anthony D'Alessandro explains why. The box-office strength of Warner Bros. $200-million tentpole Green Lantern dimmed from green to yellow as the DC comic book adaptation finally beamed in $52.7 million--about 9% below the studio’s conservative projection. The frame’s second wide entry, Fox’s Jim Carrey family vehicle Mr. Popper’s Penguins, bested its $12-$15 million estimate with $18.2 million, a figure that’s in sync with the comedic actor’s last studio live-action debut Yes Man, which ultimately totaled nearly $100 million. (Indie grosses are here.) Green Lantern’s bow would »

New 'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 2' Trailer Debuts

0
Latest trailer is both action-packed and full of emotion.
Wowza. Wow. Wowza. That is our instant reaction to the latest trailer for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," which just hit the Interwebs Thursday (June 16). Man oh man, is it a doozy. Even for those of us who've read the books over and over again and are fully prepared for what's going to unfold when the film hits theaters on July 17, this latest trailer is so action-packed, so full of intensity and emotion, it's almost too much to handle.
Almost.

The trailer opens with a distraught Lily Potter (Harry's mom) speaking to her infant son. "Harry, be safe," she says in a strained whisper. "Be strong." Cut to the words "Every moment he's lived has led to this," before an eerie voice-over by evil Dark Lord Voldemort comes in over flashback scenes of key moments in several of the previous seven films.
"Harry Potter, you have fought valiantly," Voldemort sneers. "Now join me, and confront your fate."
From here on out, much like the action in the second half of J.K. Rowling's seventh Potter book, things get very intense. There are flashes of Voldemort in several states of mind and presence, all of them ferocious and teeming with dark force.
"You've kept him alive so he can die at the proper moment," Snape says to him at one point.
Cut to Harry, Ron and Hermione riding a dragon, continuing their dangerous quest for the final horcruxes that will help bring an end to the Dark Lord.
This is followed by the beginning shots, or so it seems, of the epic battle royale at Hogwarts. Death eaters are surrounding the school, and Professor McGonagall orders the magical protectors of the school to come to life and protect them. What looks like the Dark Lord's army is shown assembled outside the gates, ready to attack, while our favorite Potter protagonists are shown waiting anxiously inside the school.
Suddenly the final battle is in full swing, wands slinging, wizards clashing, all of which can be very briefly summarized by these words: death and destruction.
In the midst of all the madness, there are emotional moments that seem to show favorite characters preparing to meet certain death. One poignant moment occurs in a brief exchange between Harry and Snape, a character who has always mysteriously walked the line between good and evil.
"Tell them how it happened that night," Harry says angrily to Snape, before a flashback of Dumbledore's death appears onscreen. "How you looked him in the eye, a man who trusted you, and killed him!"
There is also a brief moment where Harry is surrounded by the ghostly presences of his loved ones, people like his mother and godfather Sirius Black.
"You'll stay with me?" Harry asks his illusory supporters.
"Always," answers his mother.
"Until the end," Black adds.
The remaining seconds are all about action, action, action — specifically, the fight between Harry and Voldemort.
"Come on, Tom, let's finish this the way we started," Harry says to Voldemort as they stand on the precipice of a cliff. "Together!"
This is followed by more quick cuts of wand-wielding and explosions. And then Voldemort and Harry are shown battling once more, this time crawling toward one wand.
"Only I can live forever," Voldemort says with finality.

Christina Aguilera Explains Her Tough Year In W Magazine

0
It’s been a tough year for Christina Aguilera.
The Voice coach, 30, opens up to W magazine about the rocky road she’s travelled over the past few months.
Aguilera, who split from music executive Jordan Bratman last October, says both her and ex played a part in the end of their marriage.
Isn’t that usually the case?
Alluding to affairs, she says “at one time or another we were not angels. It got to a point where our life at home was reminding me of my own childhood. I will not have my son grow up in a tension-filled home.
“I knew there would be a negative reaction in the press to my divorce, but I am not going to live my life because of something someone might say. That goes against everything I sing on my records. I have to be myself.”
On her childhood, she says: “I felt caged by my childhood. And unsafe: Bad things happened in my home; there was violence,” she confessed to the magazine. “‘The Sound of Music’ looked like a form of release. I would open my bedroom window to sing out like Maria. In my own way, I’d be in those hills.”
Everybody needs an escape, the hills seem to be hers.
On her infamous Super Bowl flub: “Everything on the field at the Super Bowl was vividly bright, and I was having a moment. I got lost in the emotion of being there and I messed up the lyrics to the song,” she says.
“I went to dinner after the Super Bowl with Matt and I laughed about how I’d made myself into a Trivial Pursuit question: ‘In 2011 what female singer flubbed the lyrics to the national anthem?”
On her Grammys appearance: “I know what everyone was saying, and during that Grammy moment, when I nearly collapsed, I was thinking, Are you kidding me? I’ve always been really good with my heels. Even pregnant, I could perform in heels. Note to self: Never wear a train onstage. My heel got caught in my train, and if it wasn’t for Jennifer Hudson, who picked me up as I went down, I would have fallen to the floor. When it happened, it was just like, What else, God?! What else?! I threw my hands up in the air and started smiling, because what else could go wrong?”

Christina Aguilera & Maroon 5 To Debut Joint Single “Moves Like Jagger” Next Week

0
If American Idol can rekindle Jennifer Lopez’s spark enough for her to land a smash comeback single, who says the same magic can’t be weaved for Adam Levine’s band Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera? “Moves Like Jagger,” the joint offering from the two artists, will premiere on next Tuesday’s (June 21) episode of Xtina and Adam’s hit series The Voice. (Sorry, Ke$ha — guess you’re not the only current artist with a corner on name-checking the legendary Rolling Stones crooner!)

The two coaches are set to perform “Moves Like Jagger” on The Voice next week, and then the song will be made available on iTunes after the episode (at 11 p.m.).
And, really, the pair could use a hit. Respectively, Adam and Christina’s last Top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 came in 2010, in the forms of “Misery” (which peaked at #14, a disappointing position when compared to previous Maroon 5 singles like “Makes Me Wonder” and “This Love” — especially given that it was the lead single off the band’s last album) and “Not Myself Tonight” (#23).
“Castle Walls,” a promising Alex Da Kid-produced collaboration from T.I. and Xtina, failed to chart on the Hot 100 after the Atlanta rapper was sent to prison and was therefore left unable to promote the single.
A post on Maroon 5’s official site about “Moves Like Jagger” quotes Levine:
“The guys and I recorded this track in L.A. last month and it was great getting to work with Christina on it as well. We are excited to perform it for our fans on The Voice this Tuesday and on the road this summer.”
Are you excited to hear new music from both Xtina and Maroon 5?

Dwayne Johnson May Join Up With GI Joe For The Sequel

0
With Fast Five scoring far bigger numbers than any previous Fast & The Furious movie, it’s clear that a little Rock won’t hurt your action franchise. So it’s not shocking to learn that Dwayne Johnson may appear in the GI Joe sequel, possibly as the popular character Roadblock. There should be plenty of room for the former wrestler, as it’s been rumored that only a few of the characters from the first movie will be returning, with Channing Tatum‘s Duke the most likely. While the first film was a definite success, there was plenty of room for improvement—we’re especially glad no one’s calling for Marlon Wayans to come back—and J0hnson would be an easy way to go about that.
As for the franchise that made this all possible, the odds for a sixth Fast film are pretty good, with Johnson’s badass federal agent now firmly part of the musclebound family. “Well, it all depends,” he told Access Hollywood, on how much a— I could kick in that movie,” he told Access Hollywood. “I’m sure they’re getting ready to start writing away.” Yeah, somebody get that 5-year-old screenwriter on the case!

Eminem & Royce Da 5′9″ Use And Abuse Their Words In “Fast Lane” Video

0
As Eminem and Royce Da 5′9″ prepare for the release of their joint EP Hell: The Sequel (read all about it in our Summer Preview series), the Bad Meets Evil duo have revealed their highly entertaining “Fast Lane” video, which could easily double as a lyric video — if the lyrics were being destroyed and manipulated by the artists as they appear on screen. Watch below. Ever since Cee Lo Green revealed the lyric video for “Fuck You”, more artists than ever have been releasing their own lyric videos, and have been attempting to find new ways of using a song’s lyrics on screen in a creative way. (See Joe Jonas’ live lyrics video for his single “See No More”, painted in real time by artist Curtis Kulig.) Can’t wait to see how someone tops Em and Royce.
Eminem & Royce Da 5′9″ (Bad Meets Evil) — “Fast Lane”

It makes perfect sense to see the Detroit rappers’ lyrics appear on screen, being that their words are the most significant part of their act. Also significant? How much unicorns are killing it in 2011 — first they party with Ke$ha in her “Blow” video, a unicorn-inked Lady Gaga name drops them in Born This Way track “Highway Unicorn (Road To Love)”, and now even Royce is chilling with an animated one:

New 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Pic: Shockwave and Snake Robots

0
Bad robots in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" have hit the web through a new image. While it looks similar to a Shockwave-featuring photo which was revealed previously, the villain this time is featured alongside his snake-like buddies, the ones that cut down a skyscraper in "Dark of the Moon" videos.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has recently shared his thoughts about Shockwave to USA Today, saying that the one-eyed robot is a "more menacing and more dangerous" robot. "It's a huge escalation in the amount of damage that one Decepticon can wreak," he added. "He's capable of wholesale destruction...that' really bad for humans," he detailed.

In the upcoming installment of the "Transformers" film series, Shockwave is going to work with the destructive Decepticons. However, the tension between the the dark-side robots rises. "Decepticons have a united plan, but as usual they don't get along," Di Bonaventura explained. "The inter-distrust between the villains is even stronger than before."

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" is going to arrive in U.S. theaters starting July 1. It revolves around a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia which involves the Autobots and Decepticons. As the chaos erupts, human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends once again. Shia LaBeouf reprises his role as Sam, with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley playing Carly, Sam's new love interest.

Paramore Unleash Their Inner “Monster” On New Single

0
“I’m not the villain despite what you’re always preaching,” sings Hayley Williams on Paramore’s new song “Monster”, the lead single off the Transformers: Dark Of The Moon soundtrack. If you analyze the lyrics a bit too closely, you might think “Monster” is a swipe at former band members Josh and Zac Farro (particularly the line “Now that you’re gone, the world is ours”). Or, ya know, Hayley could just be singing about battling giant robots taking over the Earth. Call’s yours. Listen to the full track below.
Paramore – “Monster”

The single is available on iTunes June 7 and the Transformers: Dark Of The Moon soundtrack drops June 14.

Rihanna Hits Back At ‘Man Down’ Video Critics

0
Rihanna has responded to the backlash over her latest music video, Man Down.
The Parents Television Council condemned the singer for portraying a shooting and depicting a “cold, calculated execution of murder” in the promo.
In the video, directed by Anthony Mandler, Rihanna is seen gunning down a man in retaliation for an apparent sexual assault.
“Rihanna’s personal story and status as a celebrity superstar provided a golden opportunity for the singer to send an important message to female victims of rape and domestic violence,” said Melissa Henson, PTC official.  She continued: “Instead of telling victims they should seek help, Rihanna released a music video that gives retaliation in the form of premeditated murder the imprimatur of acceptability.”
Also disturbed by the video is the co-founder of media justice think tank Industry Ears, Paul Porter. He said: “If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop. Rihanna should not get a pass and BET should know better.  The video is far from broadcast worthy.”
Rihanna’s tweet that the video included “a very strong underlying message 4 girls like me (sic)” also drew criticism from the PTC.
The singer has since addressed the controversy on Twitter.
She wrote: “I’m a 23-year-old rock star with NO KIDS! What’s up with everybody wantin me to be a parent? I’m just a girl, I can only be your/our voice!
“Cuz we all know how difficult/embarrassing it is to communicate touchy subject matters to anyone especially our parents!
“And this is why!Cuz we turn the other cheek! U can’t hide your kids from society,or they’ll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD!
“The music industry isn’t exactly Parents R Us! We have the freedom to make art, LET US! Its your job to make sure they dont turn out like US.”
