'Hangover II' Facing Lawsuit Against Louis Vuitton Over Fake Bag Scene

0

"The Hangover Part II" might be the most-litigated movie in 2011. Not so long after Warner Bros. Pictures claimed it had cleared off three lawsuits involving the film, it is now said that the studio is being sued by high-class fashion brand Louis Vuitton over the use of a fake bag in the Bradley Cooper-starring action comedy. , m

The French fashion house has filed a lawsuit in New York federal court on Thursday, December 22, complaining about a counterfeit LV bag used in "The Hangover II". The particular bag appears in an airport scene where Zach Galifianakis's Alan carries a lugage marked with LVM and tells another character, "Careful, that is.. that is a Louis Vuitton."

LV accused Warners of ignoring its instructions not to use a fake bag in the movie. According to the complaint, the bag appeared in the scene was in fact made by the Chinese American company Diophy, which LV is suing in attempt to ban its knock-off products from being purchased in the U.S.

The luxury brand additionally claimed that Warners has refused to alter the bag scene before the film was released on DVD format. The company is now seeking to stop all copies of the movie and other materials that feature the bag scene and asking profits from the film with triple damages.

Before this legal trouble with Louis Vuitton, "The Hangover II" had already faced several legal cases. Earlier this year, Warners was sued by a tattoo artist who claimed that the comedy film has copied the tattoo design onEd Helms' face from the one he created for boxer Mike Tyson.

In September, the studio was also sued by stuntman Scott McLean who claimed that he sustained a brain injury after suffering an accident while shooting a stunt scene for the film in Thailand. Meanwhile, in October, the studio was accused by writer Michael Alan Rubin of stealing the idea from a script he wrote about his Asian adventures.

"The Hangover II" was directed by Todd Phillips and released on May 26. The comedy film stars Helms, Cooper and Galifianakis, along with Nick Cassavetes and Paul Giamatti. The comedy has grossed over $250 million in domestic box office. Its third installment, meanwhile, is currently in development at Warner Bros.

Angelina Jolie Won't Be Rushing to Direct Another Movie After 'Blood and Honey'

0
Angelina Jolie might receive many praise for her directorial debut, "In the Land of Blood and Honey", but she is in no rush to helm another movie. In an interview with Los Angeles Times' 24 Frames, the Elise Clifton-Ward of "The Tourist" hinted that she will be picky for her next directing project.

"I love political subject matter, international work where I learn about other countries and foreign affairs. I don't know if I would be interested in directing something where I wasn't forced to get a huge education," the Oscar winner explained. Still, she noted, "I still am shy about the idea of whether I would ever do this again."

During the chat, the long-time partner of Brad Pitt opened up that she actually "half-wrote" another script about Afghanistan though nobody has read it. "I don't even think it's good. Maybe I'll dig it out, but I don't have the confidence yet to start even thinking in that way," so claimed the 36-year-old actress.

After directing "Blood and Honey", Jolie is set to star in several upcoming films, including Ridley Scott-produced "Gertrude Bell", David Fincher's "Cleopatra", and Luc Besson's yet untitled big scale thriller. However, she claimed she didn't miss going back to acting this time around.

"I loved not acting. I loved it," Jolie confessed. "When you get to shine the spotlight on someone who's doing the job 10 times better than you can imagine doing it yourself, it's great. It's like 'OK, I'm not needed here'."

Shot in both English and Slavic, "In the Land of Blood and Honey" follows a love story between a Muslim Bosniak woman, Alja, and a Christian Serbian soldier, Danijel. They met in 1991, before the Bosnian war breaks, and then find themselves on opposite sides. Danijel was in charge of guarding the rape camp where Ajla was imprisoned.

The drama will open in limited theaters in the U.S. on December 23. A few days before it is released, a brand new clip of the movie has been unleashed via Apple. The snippet sees a scene in which teary Danijel asks terrified Alja if he was her enemy or she was his enemy.

CMA Awards 2011: Full Winner List Includes Taylor Swift as Entertainer of the Year

0
Before the 45th annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards came to and end, Taylor Swift was invited to the stage of the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee to collect Entertainer of the Year. This victory saved her from walking home empty handed after she was repeatedly blocked from winning 2011 Country Music Awards earlier that night.

The country music cutie brought home the top honor after having a tough competition with the best male country musicians like Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban. She received the honor from his senior Reba McEntire, who won the top prize in 1986. During her acceptance speech, she took time to give shout-outs to the guest performers on her concerts.

Earlier in the evening, Blake Shelton came out victorious in Male Vocalist of the Year category. He won the gong over Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. He received the trophy from "Water for Elephants" actress Reese Witherspoon.

The history repeated itself when Blake's wife Miranda Lambert got Female Vocalist of the Year. This marked their wins in the categories for two years in a row. Last year, they took home the awards and became the first couple who grabbed Male and Female Vocalists since Tim McGraw and Faith Hill won them in 2000.

Miranda was given the prize by duo presenters Dierks Bentley and Emily VanCamp, but the announcer reportedly falsely mentioned her as Martina McBride. The member of girl group Pistol Annies beat Taylor, Sara Evans, and co-host Carrie Underwood in addition to pushing aside Martina.

The big winner of the November 9 ceremony, however, was newbie The Band Perry. They collected three awards in New Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, and Song of the Year. Jason Aldean followed them by bagging double kudos; Musical Event of the Year and Album of the Year.
