What Did You Think Of 'Sucker Punch'?

"Sucker Punch" is finally out in theaters, and whether you loved it or you hated it, we're betting you have an opinion.
Make no mistake: this is a divisive movie. It's not for everyone, certainly not movie fans who aren't interested in big, loud, frenetic action flicks jam-packed with slow motion fight moves, scantily clad women and roaring renditions of some iconic rock tunes. But if those things are your cup of tea, chances are very good that you'll like what you see.

So, the all-important question: have you seen "Sucker Punch" yet? If so, what did you think? Click past the jump, vote in our poll and let us know what you thought of the film in the comments section and on Twitter!

Personally speaking, I'm a bit torn. There are aspects of "Sucker Punch" that completely bowled me over. Zack Snyder's knack for chaotic combat and eye-busting visuals is on full display here, resulting in what I'd argue is the sharpest looking Snyder flick to date. If nothing else, the action scenes are completely worth the price of admission.
Beyond those sequences, the other major highlight for me was the fantastic performance turned in by Oscar Isaac (who rightfully earned his place as Hollywood Crush's Hump Day Hottie this week) as Blue Jones, a weak-minded custodian in one world and a thoroughly menacing gangster in another. Isaac dances circles around the rest of the cast and relishes in doing so, chewing up scenery and spitting it out in the audience's faces like it's his job — which, incidentally, it is.
But there's a lot that didn't work for me. The three separate layers of reality didn't gel together from where I was sitting; the brothel reality could have easily given way for a larger emphasis on the asylum, or the story could have played out entirely in the brothel. Either one would have made for a tighter, more focused film in my opinion, but there are still some fundamental story issues that a rejiggered reality system just wouldn't solve.
Couple that with the fact that most of the leading ladies were given fairly one-note characterization — which, admittedly, may have been a deliberate choice on Snyder's part — and I found myself completely unable to invest in the plight of our heroes. When you can't fully commit yourself to the people you're spending two hours with on the big screen, you're going to run into some problems.
Still, there's no question that "Sucker Punch" is a beautiful film, if only on an aesthetic level. And I fully concede that others may find hidden meaning and depth within the visceral ride that Snyder's put you on that I just couldn't see. All of this is just one man's opinion, of course, and I want to know what YOU thought of the film. So what are you waiting for?
